I think most people are familiar with electric blankets, the stuff you put on your bed to keep the temperature from rising too much.
But do you know how to use them for their intended purpose?
I know that I can’t because I’m too afraid of overheating and breaking.
Luckily, there are some things that will keep my blankets from overheating.
The good news is that they’re very easy to make and use, and you’ll be glad you did.
Here’s a list of some of the things you need to know to make a very comfortable electric blanket.1.
Get some sturdy fabric to fold up and place in the electric blanket2.
Cut the fabric to size3.
Sew the edges to the sides of the fabric4.
Fold up the fabric on the front side of the blanket, folding it so the fabric is facing the front of the electric.5.
Fold the fabric back down, then sew the edges back together.
This is the easiest way to keep all the edges together.6.
Fold in the elastic on the outside edge of the elastic, leaving the inner edge to be a little longer than the edge of your blanket.7.
Use the elastic to hang your blanket, just as you would your regular blanket.8.
If you’re making this for a friend or family member, make sure that the blanket is comfortable to hang up on the wall or ceiling.9.
The fabric needs to be stiff enough to keep warm without the blanket breaking.
It should be about a third the width of your arm, about a half inch deep.
If it’s too loose, the blanket will fall apart.10.
It’s best to use the elastic in the top half of the fold, but it’s fine to use it on the bottom half.11.
Fold it up to make the top of the folded blanket.
Then, fold it again to make your hem.12.
Put your electric blanket on a shelf in a cool place and turn on the heater to get it going.13.
When the blanket gets hot, pull it out and let it cool.
Then take it to the counter and warm it up in the microwave.14.
Use a hot iron or hot stove to heat it up.
The best thing you can do to keep it warm is use a cloth to wipe down the blanket and make sure it’s cool.15.
If the blanket has a zipper or button, it will be very warm to touch.16.
Once you’ve warmed it up, wrap it in a blanket, tuck it in the corner of the closet, or use the electric heater to bring it up a little.17.
Use an elastic band to tie your blanket together, and tie it to a piece of string.18.
Lay it out on the floor, with the blanket on top of it.19.
Put the blanket in your bed, and let the temperature rise.20.
If your blanket has been used for a while, you can use it as a pillow or even hang it on a wall or something.
