In the early days of the 20th century, women were often the first to use the term ugg, as the term for woolen fabric that was traditionally woven into the outer garments of the garment.
But for many women, wearing a ug sweater was considered a luxury item, a fashion statement or a way to showcase your femininity.
Today, many women are opting for a new term, uggwear, which combines the words ugg and clothing.
As of 2017, more than 1.7 billion women have worn a sweater in the U.S. The term ug has come to refer to the woolen-like fabric that many women wear to wear their sweater.
But in the past few years, the term has taken on a more formal and sophisticated meaning.
In 2018, The Washington Post covered the trend of women using the word ugg to describe a variety of products, including sweaters, hats and coats.
The Post wrote: Some women have said they have no idea what they’re wearing, and the term is still used to describe their clothing.
Others wear the word casually, often with a shrug or a look of confusion.
The ugg trend is also spreading beyond the clothing world, with some men, women and teens also using the term.
It’s becoming more common for people to talk about their outfits, said Kristin Dye, director of marketing for brand consultancy firm GQ.
“It’s not the only way to talk, but it’s a way that people are using it, and I think people are becoming more comfortable with it,” she said.
And the trend isn’t limited to women either.
In 2017, the Ugg Foundation, a non-profit group, began calling their collection of apparel, including hats, hats, coats and even shoes, “Uggs.”
In 2018 alone, the group sold $3 million worth of products.
The group is now selling apparel in nearly every major market on the planet.
“In this era, when women are saying they’re not buying what they think they should, they’re saying, ‘I don’t want that sweater.
I don’t like that sweater,'” Dye said.
The trend is now being used by more than half of all women, according to GQ, and has helped turn the ug market into a $100 billion-a-year industry.
The foundation has also developed a website dedicated to the word and other ways to express ug, and recently partnered with other organizations to launch a campaign called “Ug Wear.”
For those who wear a sweater, the word is often associated with the term “the ug” in the United States, Dye added.
But the word has also gained traction in other countries around the world.
In Germany, for instance, ugwerk is a term for a woman wearing a sweater.
In China, for example, the phrase ug is used for the clothing.
The United Kingdom has its own slang term, as does Australia.
And, in the Netherlands, ugoer means a woman who wears a sweater to cover up her breasts, and it’s used to refer not to a woman, but to a man, Dyes said.
While the word “ug” may be used to denote women who wear sweaters in other parts of the world, the trend is still being embraced by more and more men.
“This is really, really exciting,” Dye told TIME.
“We’re seeing more and bigger men wearing sweaters.
We’re seeing it in the fashion world, but we’re also seeing it with the people who are wearing it.”

Last year, the company announced the launch of a new product, called Uggy, which is designed to “help you find and buy your favorite uggs and other apparel.”
In the UGGY app, users can create and share their own collections and purchase them online.
The app also lets users track the number of ugg-wear purchases made on their own accounts, and users can upload photos of their collections to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.
And a number of retailers are offering Uggies at an even higher price point.
At The Gap, the price of a Uggie is $36.99, while the price for a UGG is $79.99.
“A lot of people are buying sweaters with the ugg on them,” Aghani said.
“People are buying things like hats and hats with a sweater on them.
It makes sense to do it.
And it’s not just about the price.”
